KLC opens Kanvas Rubrehose pre-orders with a US$59 base kit
KLC’s new PBT keycap brand debuts with a 174-key Rubrehose base kit. Pre-orders run October 23–November 1, with shipping estimated for January 2027.
Announcement date: October 23, 2026
KLC has opened pre-orders for Kanvas Rubrehose, the first collection from its new keycap brand, Kanvas. The PBT dye-sublimated set starts at US$59 for the 174-key Base Kit during the October 23–November 1, 2026 pre-order window, with shipping estimated for January 2027.
Kanvas takes its name from “key” and “canvas.” KLC presents the brand as a way to bring artists’ work to everyday keyboards at an accessible price, beginning with a refreshed take on Rubrehose’s colorful character artwork.
A PBT take on Rubrehose
The collection revisits the earlier GMK Rubrehose design with refreshed novelties and an expanded Alpha Kit. Kanvas uses dye-sublimation on PBT rather than the original GMK set’s doubleshot construction. KLC lists a Cherry profile and 1.6 mm keycap thickness.
KLC describes the 174-key Base Kit as covering almost all layouts. Buyers should check the official kit diagrams against their own keyboard, particularly for unusual key sizes or layouts. The separate Alpha, Novelty, and Alert kits offer additional ways to combine the design.
Kits and US pricing
KLC says all kits will remain available as in-stock products at regular prices after the pre-order period. That is its stated sales plan; January 2027 is an estimated shipping date.
| Kit | Keys | Pre-order | Regular |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | 174 | US$59 | US$65 |
| Alpha | 70 (updated) | US$32 | US$35 |
| Novelty | 43 | US$32 | US$35 |
| Alert | 110 | US$40 | US$45 |
KLC advertises the pre-order promotion as 10% off. The amounts above reproduce its listed US-dollar prices rather than recalculating the discount. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
Alpha Kit update: an extra Tab key
The launch announcement originally listed 69 keys for the Alpha Kit. Following feedback, KLC added another Tab key to make the remaining keycaps easier to reuse in different combinations. The official product page now lists 70 keys, and the updated Alpha Kit diagram includes the Tab key.
What KLC has said about manufacturing
In a Discord response about the manufacturer, KLC said it would not disclose the factory or production partner because of non-disclosure agreements and business confidentiality. No specific manufacturer has therefore been identified in that response.
KLC says it works with manufacturers specializing in custom keycaps and applies quality controls aimed at accurate legends, consistent colors, and warp-free PBT keycaps. These are KLC’s stated production standards; Keebpedia has not independently tested the finished keycaps.
How this relates to Murdered Out
Kanvas was introduced in KLC’s earlier Rubrehose Murdered Out progress update. This pre-order gives the new PBT collection its own pricing and schedule. It is a separate release from the GMK Murdered Out project and does not establish a group-buy date for that project or its proposed matching keyboards.
