KLC has shared a progress update on Rubrehose Murdered Out, covering its GMK keycaps, planned matching keyboards, and a new keycap brand called Kanvas. The announcement does not give a firm group-buy date.

What is Rubrehose?

Rubrehose is a character-led artisan keycap brand launched by maker Badchad in 2021. Its name and visual language draw on the rubber-hose animation of the 1920s: bendy limbs, exaggerated expressions, and playful cartoon characters. That artwork carries across artisan keycaps, the GMK CYL Rubrehose keycap set, and themed keyboard collaborations.

A follow-up to Jane v3 Rubrehose and Rubrehaku

The previous Rubrehose project extended beyond keycaps into the TGR Jane v3 Rubrehose Edition and SingaKBD’s Kohaku Rubrehose Edition, also known as Rubrehaku. Both featured in HardwareZone’s coverage of Seoul Mechanical Keyboard Expo 2025. These collaborations paired premium keyboard designs with Rubrehose artwork, giving enthusiasts a complete themed setup to follow.

Rubrehose was the original Jane v3 collaboration: its group buy closed in September 2024, ahead of the Jane v3 Standard Edition offered through KLC in 2026. SingaKBD lists Rubrehaku in its 2025 Kohaku gallery. That history explains the interest in another matching-keyboard lineup — and why KLC’s proposed Murdered Out editions are more than a new keycap colorway.

GMK development and the new Kanvas brand

KLC says discussions with GMK about the design and novelty configurations are ongoing. Some novelties are technically difficult to produce with doubleshot molding, prompting specification and layout adjustments. KLC is continuing testing and refinement; the final manufacturing details have not been announced.

Alongside that work, KLC introduced Kanvas, its new keycap brand. It says an updated version of the Rubrehose Round 1 design has been prepared for Kanvas with broad layout compatibility and a more accessible price point. The update does not specify pricing or a release date.

Matching keyboards: the proposed rollout

KLC plans three to six matching keyboards with partner brands. Under the announced plan, the group buys would be available to customers purchasing at least one GMK Murdered Out base kit, with models introduced one per month in a format similar to Keyboard of the Month. KLC cautions that development constraints could lead to delays or cancellations.

  • TGR Jane v3 Murdered Out Edition: design work is complete. Planned as the first release, it features an F12 layout and a revised backplate. KLC is preparing to exhibit a physical unit at the Shanghai ZF Event in November.
  • Merisi Rubretantaquattro: Rubrehose artwork is planned for the backplate. Prototypes are in production, with an exhibition at the same Shanghai event planned.
  • Singakbd, Linworks, and Newone: named as additional collaborators. Their release order has not been determined.
  • TGR Tris: also in development, with a separate future Keyboard of the Month introduction planned.

Further announcements to follow

Kevin says network restrictions while overseeing production in China have made Discord access difficult. He asks customers to wait for official announcements before treating provisional answers as commitments. The keyboards, exhibition plans, and rollout remain subject to change.
