KBS Flat Out brings racing-livery colours to Cherry-profile ABS keycaps
Sectorform’s motorsport-inspired set is made by Keyboard Science in 1.5 mm ABS. We explain the KBS name, Cherry profile, production methods and the group buy running through November 13.
Announcement date: October 28, 2026

KBS Flat Out is now in group buy, pairing light alphas with deep green modifiers and yellow motorsport details. Designed by Sectorform and manufactured by Keyboard Science, the set runs from October 23 through November 13, 2026.
At UK vendor proto[Typist], the selected Base Kit displayed £62.50 GBP when checked on October 29. That is the base kit price, rather than the lower starting price of an optional child kit. Shipping and destination-dependent charges should be checked separately.
What is KBS—and what shape are these keycaps?
KBS is the shortened name of Keyboard Science, the manufacturer credited by project vendor Elec Fox. Sectorform is the design studio; proto[Typist] and Elec Fox sell the set. These roles are separate.
Flat Out uses Cherry profile, also described as cylindrical on proto[Typist]’s listing. It has row-dependent sculpting and cylindrical finger dishes. The word “Flat” in the product name refers to the racing expression for going at full speed; it does not mean a uniform, flat keycap profile. The caps support MX-style switch stems.
Material, thickness and manufacturing
Both current vendor listings specify ABS and a wall thickness of 1.5 mm. Elec Fox identifies the material as KBS’s new ABS formulation and distinguishes doubleshot Base/Alpha keys from screen-printed novelties, described there as Ultra-Smooth Screen Printing. Proto[Typist] lists the set more generally as doubleshot. Readers should therefore not assume every novelty graphic is doubleshot.
The October interest check says the newer ABS formulation was chosen for a brighter, higher-pitched sound. That is a project-side design claim, not an independent listening result or a guarantee across keyboards.
Keyboard Science is the disclosed manufacturer. The checked project and sales materials do not identify a separate factory, legal factory operator, plant address or subcontractor. We cannot confirm those details. Other KBS sets have different published specifications, so their thickness should not be substituted for Flat Out’s 1.5 mm figure.
A racing theme beyond the colour palette
The project’s interest check was shared by Brian of Elec Fox on behalf of Shotlock’s studio, Sectorform. It describes inspiration from classic racing liveries and lightweight race-car engineering. The novelties include driving gloves, a steering wheel, a gear shifter and car imagery, carrying the theme beyond a simple accent colour.
GMK WS1, Pantone 548 C and Pantone 7404 C are listed colour references. The GMK reference does not make this a GMK-manufactured set. Promotional renders illustrate the design; keyboards in those images are not included.
Base, Accent, Novelties and Spacebars are separate kit options. Proto[Typist] explicitly lists UK ISO coverage in the Base Kit. Check the kitting diagrams for the exact sizes and rows your layout needs, rather than treating MX stems alone as complete layout compatibility.
Ordering window and delivery estimates
The group buy runs October 23–November 13, 2026. Proto[Typist] displays an end time of November 13 at 23:30, but the visible date block does not label its timezone; we are not assigning that clock time a UTC or Japan-time conversion.
For customer shipping, proto[Typist] currently lists March 31, 2027 as its estimated on-or-before date. Elec Fox separately expects production to finish in early December, followed by shipment to vendors and region-dependent customer delivery. Factory completion, vendor arrival and customer dispatch are different milestones. These are estimates and can change.
This is a preorder for a product awaiting manufacture. Prices and final charges vary by vendor and destination; the £62.50 figure above records the selected UK storefront Base Kit, not a worldwide all-in price.
