Overview
The Obscura is a linear switch from Mode Designs, manufactured by Outemu. It pairs nylon top and bottom housings with a POM stem and arrives with a light factory lubrication.
Reviewers describe a smooth linear stroke with a full, fairly loud sound signature. Many owners still add lubricant of their own to refine consistency and round out the acoustics.

The quintessential "wild horse" switch — unruly, but I love it. The long-pole stem makes it loud; the heavy lube on the bottom housing gives a cushioned bottom-out; the 18mm spring makes it snappy to type; and a faint scratch gives it a Cherry-like character. Together it produces a rich, varied sound, a little like Cream Soda. It's nearly $0.68 a switch and a hassle to buy (only from Mode), but it was really good.
Best on a clacky build, though surprisingly it also worked on thocky boards — I still run mine clacky.
Heads-up: the scratch and the wobble are Cherry-level, so if that's not your thing, this may not be either.
