The HMX Hydra is a tactile switch designed by XLLAB, built around a large, almost D-shaped tactile bump that sits high in the travel with little pre- or post-travel. Its shape is styled after Gateron's Type R and echoes HMX's own Retro J.

A tactile with a strong bump. The stem is long, so it's quite clacky — extremely similar to the BSUN Ocean. The leaf is lubed too, so there's none of the leaf ping tactiles often have; it's a very complete switch. I didn't give it a 5 because it's a bit of a straight-A 'honor student,' but it's an easy one to recommend. Pros: strong tactility, plenty of clack, smooth, and you can choose the spring weight. Con: it's loud. Works with both clacky and thocky boards. Beyond 'it's loud!' there's really nothing to watch out for.
