Overview

The HMX Firecracker is a tactile switch designed by Yowzers and manufactured by HMX. It is notable as HMX's first tactile to use a POK stem, paired with a P3 top housing and a P6 bottom housing (HMX's proprietary housing materials), and it ships factory lubed.

The stem carries a pronounced, rounded tactile bump, and the POK-and-housing pairing gives a clacky, full sound that leans toward the higher-pitched end while staying reasonably contained rather than sharp.

Finally an HMX tactile with no scratch - smooth and consistent the way HMX linears are, with none of the grit. The bump is strong, stronger than the Hydra, so tactile fans have a clear choice: Firecracker for a firmer bump, Hydra for a lighter one. If you're after an HMX tactile as of mid-2026, it really comes down to these two. The strong bump won't be for everyone, and among HMX switches this sits on the heavier-bump end. It's clacky, but it also suits a thockier board - take your pick.
