Overview

GravaStar UFO Magnetic is a linear Hall-effect switch with an open, mecha-inspired housing and circular stem guidance. Its sensing design uses a north-pole-down magnet, so keyboard support for that orientation matters. A dedicated switch puller is required, and the manufacturer advises checking plate clearance around stabilized keys.

For a magnetic switch, I enjoy the UFO’s thocky sound, and the 50g bottom-out weight suits my preference. The price is high, and taking it apart looks as though it could cause an injury. I like it about as much as TTC Horse: Gateron Spark comes first for me, followed by Horse and UFO, then KeyTok Nova. A gasket-mounted keyboard brings out more of its koto-koto sound. That character is relative to other magnetic switches; it is still less pronounced than on mechanical switches.
