Overview
The Gateron Root Beer Float is a tactile switch designed by PuNkShoO, the creator behind Gateron's Cream Soda. It pairs a polycarbonate top housing with an Ink bottom housing and, unusually for a Gateron tactile, an Ink stem rather than the more common POM. The switch ships without factory lubrication, leaving tuning to the user.
Its tactility is a wide bump that begins near the top of the downstroke, giving a rounded, medium-heavy tactile feel throughout the keypress.

The sound and feel are like carbonation popping. The bump is strong and, being long-pole, it really projects — a truly one-of-a-kind switch. Aluminum boards are the surest match, and something that sounds clacky pairs especially well. It is loud, though, and I'd lube the springs; I tried lubing the stem side rails too, but leaving them alone kept the sound properly loud, which I preferred.
