Overview
The Gateron Lanes reinterprets a click-leaf mechanism to bring the feel of vintage Alps switches — most often compared to the Alps SKCM Orange — into an MX-compatible format. Rather than the stem legs, the leaf itself produces a rounded tactile bump felt through the stroke, while a housing tab tames the usual click into a much more subdued sound.
It uses a polycarbonate top housing, a nylon bottom, and a POM stem, and ships lightly lubed from the factory.

A switch with a metal leaf fitted inside, like a clicky — striking that leaf is what produces the sound and the bump. As its alternate name (Gateron Lanes Alps Tactile / Semi-Silent Click) hints, it delivers an interesting ALPS-like feel. The material combo itself is smooth and the factory lube is plenty, but the metal leaf gives off a raspy scratch — in both sound and feel — that's oddly addictive. On a thocky board it turns into a muted, clattery tactile; on a clacky board you really get to enjoy that raspy character. The catch: at roughly ¥100 a switch it's on the pricey side, and some will wish it had even more of that rasp — I'm one of them, and that cost it a star.
