Overview
The Cherry MX2A Red is a linear switch from CHERRY, the German maker's second-generation revision of its long-running red linear. It keeps nylon housings and a POM stem and ships factory-lubed, aiming for a smooth, quiet-gliding keystroke without a tactile bump. It is not a silent switch.
The MX2A redesign reworks the internals around the classic Red: a barrel-shaped spring, a spring-centering stem ringed with guidance ribs, and diamond-polished stem and housing surfaces reduce wobble and scratch. It retains CHERRY's Gold Crosspoint contact system.

The Red switch from Cherry's MX2A line. Maybe because it was an early production batch, but mine came heavily lubed and the spring had a bad ping noise, which made it unpleasant to use. I've since tried other people's units and it looks like the ping issue has been resolved since then. Personally I'm a Cherry Black person when it comes to Cherry linears, so this one doesn't get much use from me.
