GMK Spacekeys EC revisits older keysets with DynaCap-compatible spacebars
The group buy adds three-stem 3u and centered-stem 6u options across CYL and MTNU kits. proto[Typist] lists kits at £11.67–£23.33, with a November 17 UTC deadline and late-Q2 2027 shipping estimate.
Announcement date: October 26, 2026
GMK Spacekeys EC is a group buy aimed at a specific gap in custom electrocapacitive builds: spacebars that work with DynaCap housings and match existing keysets. proto[Typist] lists kits at £11.67–£23.33 GBP in the checked storefront, with a November 17, 2026 deadline and shipping estimated for late Q2 2027.
The project brings three-stem 3u spacebars and centered-stem 6u options to a selection of CYL and MTNU colors. The announcement describes 16 colorways, sold through eight kit choices at proto[Typist].
Why the number of stems matters
According to the retailer’s product description, older GMK 3u spacebars used five stems, creating interference with DynaCap housings. Newer three-stem versions began with CYL Gorp, but owners of earlier sets could still be missing a matching part.
The same listing points to another practical gap: matching 6u spacebars were often placed in child kits that have since sold out. Spacekeys EC bundles these compatibility additions into a new ordering opportunity for existing sets.
The keycaps use MX-compatible stems. The DynaCap compatibility claim concerns the specified MX-compatible EC arrangement; it should not be read as a promise that the caps directly fit every stock Topre or EC keyboard.
Which kits are offered?
Kit contents vary with the support already supplied by each original set. The product page explains that Dualshot gets an additional B because its base lacked split-spacebar support, whereas Botanical already had that support.
Two Dualshot choices are listed: an addition for owners who already have the earlier split-spacebar kit, and a fuller split-spacebar option including a 6u bar. The exact kit diagrams matter more than choosing by the set name alone.
