Preorders for GMK MTNU Dasher opened on November 4 and are scheduled to run through December 6, 2026. Designer nilslorand cites two inspirations for the blue-and-white set: the Data General Dasher terminal keyboard and its on-screen counterpart in Severance. GMK makes the MX-compatible set in Germany in doubleshot PBT, using its sculpted MTNU profile.

What is MTNU, and how does it differ from CYL?

MTNU (pronounced “MTNew”) is a medium-height keycap profile developed by Matt3o and GMK. The rows are sculpted, so their heights and angles vary across the keyboard. Matt3o wanted a spherical-top counterpart to the familiar Cherry profile, with a shallow dish and rounded edges.

The difference you can feel is in the top surface. GMK’s Cherry-style CYL has a cylindrical trough that curves from left to right. MTNU’s spherical dish curves both side to side and front to back, forming a rounded pocket for the fingertip. The two GMK lines also use different plastics. MTNU uses doubleshot PBT, including on Dasher, while GMK’s standard CYL uses doubleshot ABS.

How the set changed from the interest check

The two blues take their cues from Signature Plastics’ earlier SA Dasher palette, paired here with GMK’s stock MTNU white. During development, the numpad moved into the Base Kit and the Novelties Kit was pared back to keep costs down. The Base Kit also includes four keys for 40% layouts and uses three stems on its 3u spacebars for DynaCap compatibility.

The designer’s Geekhack announcement lists the Base Kit at US$160 and the Novelties Kit at US$60. Proto[Typist] displayed £122.50 for the selected Base Kit in the storefront checked on November 5 and also lists an International Kit.
